Scope
You may approach the Critical Care Medicine department if you are suffering from any of the following:
- Cardiac arrest or heart attack
- Stroke
- Severe bleeding or trauma
- Respiratory failure or severe difficulty breathing
- Severe burns or smoke inhalation
- Drug overdose or poisoning
- Seizures or convulsions
- Coma or loss of consciousness
- Shock or severe blood loss
- Sepsis or severe infection
- Organ failure (such as kidney or liver failure)
- Heat stroke or severe heat exhaustion
- Hypothermia or severe cold exposure
- Snake bite or severe animal bites
- Allergic reactions (such as anaphylaxis)
- Electric shock or lightning strike
- Carbon monoxide poisoning
- Near-drowning or suffocation
- Overdose of medication or drugs
- Severe head injury or trauma
It’s important to note that this is not an exhaustive list and any situation that may pose a risk to the life of a person should be considered as a medical emergency and should be treated as such.
