Symptoms
Anal Fissures:
- Pain during bowel movements
- Bright red blood on toilet tissue or in the toilet bowl
- A feeling of incomplete emptying after a bowel movement
- Itching or irritation around the anus
Anal Fistulas:
- Pain or discomfort around the anus
- Swelling or redness around the anus
- Discharge of pus or blood from the anus
- Fever or chills, if the fistula is the result of an infection
- Pain during bowel movements or when sitting
