He earned his DNB in Gastroenterology from M.S. Ramaiah Medical College (Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore).

Distinguishing himself further, Dr. Bachhav sought additional training in Pediatric Gastroenterology under the guidance of Dr. B. R. Thapa at PGI Chandigarh.
